2017 British Wildlife Photography Awards, Nature in Art, Gloucester

7 November 2017 – 7 January 2018

An annual competition celebrating the rich variety of British wildlife and promoting the very best in nature photography.

Established in 2009, these awards aim to recognise and encourage talented photographers while bringing the beauty and diversity of British wildlife to a wider audience. With 15 categories including Animal Behaviour, Urban Wildlife, Coast and Marine, Botanical Britain, Close to Nature, and British Seasons, it’s possible to witness the natural world in all its glory in one exhibition.

From stunning shots of jellyfish to rare glimpses of baby weasels, from birds of prey attacking mid-flight to thrushes nesting in traffic lights, previous short-listed entries have brought the wilds of Britain into the gallery with exceptional photographic skill.

HD video and photographic documentary series are also included in the competition, and categories for under-12s and 12 to 18 year olds aim to nurture new talent and encourage younger interest in the natural world and conservation. While the wildlife has to be British, the photographers can hail from anywhere, and the competition is open to both amateurs and professionals.
